Team-Up Thursday: Week Five

self portrait diptych week 5

I don't know about you, but I am so looking forward to seeing everyone's images of themselves this week. I almost said "everyone's faces," but since a self-portrait does not necessarily include the face, I can't wait to see all the creative interpretations of our theme.

Since I have done a few self-portraits of my face close up -- in fact, one was just my eye -- I wanted to stretch myself creatively this week. I kept coming back to the floating pose (you can see it better close up on flickr). I was worried it was too gimicky, but I really wanted to try it. It's surprisingly easy to do, and I thought that this represented my inner wish to be able to be in that zen moment. In reality, I was in my backyard, with the stool sinking into the wet ground, trying to keep my lotus position balance long enough to fire the remote. Ahhh...zen enlightenment -- NOT.

Melody's is just brilliant. I'm always on pins and needles, waiting to see what she'll send me for the week, and she never disappoints. It's uncanny that her car looks as though it is floating off in the sky...maybe she'll meet me floating around my backyard?

What do your self-portraits tell us? Check out our flickr group for all the diptychs in one convenient location.

P.S. If you have asked for a partner or would like one, please email me at monamegs@hotmail.com. I have a couple of lovely ladies who haven't left me any way to contact them, and I would love to get you started. Shelly, I haven't forgotten you :).

A stool?? Really? I'm so glad you shared because just wrote my post hoping that you'd spill. LOVE that. You really do look peaceful.

You two both got so creative this week! I had to really look close at yours Megan and say to myself, "Is she really floating?" And Melody's is super cute. The fact that it looks like you are doing something completely normal...yet from a spectators point of view is great. I cant wait to see every one else's shots for the week.

Here's my Self Portrait along with Christina.

I may have to try that stool technique! It looks so fun! I bet the kids would love it. You two are so talented, it's always so inspiring!

Ours are a little more normal, but I like how they came out.

Great takes on both shots. The idea of enlightenment and contemplating zen is just too much for me, makes me smile right along with the irony of the shot. ;) Although Melody's shot is great too, in action and on the move. Neat combo.

Marty and I are up!

HOW much do I love your shot today, Megan? It is perfect. We went to see the Dalai Lama speak last weekend and I have been in a particularly Zen place all week long - I wish I had thought of this - you are so incredibly creative!!

Ours is up over at Chaos. It was a particularly hard week for me to be creative, despite feeling so Zen. But it was a fun challenge as always!

Very cool, Megan! Love your Zen posture. I love me a little photomanipulation. :)

I have one up with Alissa for today, too.

I love this. I know you said you were on a stool but really, my minds eye says you are levitating peacefully.
