Theme Thursday: Projects

This is actually a follow-up on a project I posted about in the Fall. I showed a picture of these on the floor, waiting to be hung. Because they had to be measured so carefully so that the grid would be right, it was a two-person job. Here's the final product:

the project

Of course, I waited to take a picture until the sun was making it glare so nicely -- good move. But at least you get the idea. I love how it came out, and we hung it right in the living/dining room. My intent was to change out the photos regularly, but we'll see how often that actually happens.

If anyone is interested in doing this, check out IKEA for three-packs of frames. I got mine when they were clearing out sets of art prints in the kids section (these had racoon and monkey photos in them originally). I bought a can of black spray paint, and voila!

I felt thrifty and creative at the same time -- bonus!

I love it, I saw your previous post and was inspired. I didn't know you painted the frames. I was recently at IKEA and could not find black square frames like that. Now I know!

They look fantastic....I remember when you showed them in the frames, good for you for getting them up!

Beautiful job! I love walls that are like this where they are all in a square.

Sorry you got stuck in the spam filter today for some reason???

Very cool!!
I find it's hard to change the photos when you get ones in there that you like so much!! My collage needs updated photos but I like the old ones so much. . .
I love your growth chart below too - very cute! Did you make it? I have some chalkboard paint . . . . not that I need any more projects. ha ha

I remember when you posted them laid out on the floor. The final product turned out perfect! You gotta love being crafty and thrifty at the same time.

Wow. That came out awesome! good idea with the black paint. I have some white Ikea 5x5 frames that I decided I didn't like. Black on the other hand... I can do that.

I love this idea! I take pictures all the time and never seem to find the time to get them printed and up on the wall. I made a few beach scenes of my daughter into canvas prints and hung them, but that's about it. I'm going to have to check out Ikea to get some of those frames. What dimensions were the frames? Great work!

It turned out beautifully! Having someone else help with hanging things is really nice especially when it comes to making symmetrical. ;)

I like the sunlight too. Adds a nice touch of brightness to your shot.

Thrifty, creative, and just plain awesome! It looks great!

I so love IKEA, now if I could just get the changing photos out thing down, it would all be good. Good luck with that!
