BSM: "Diggin'" the Christmas Jammies

I promise this will be the last holiday photo I post...until the next holiday, of course :).  But I just couldn't resist this one.  I must have taken a dozen snaps of my boys in their new jammies on Christmas Eve, and wouldn't you know it...the best one is Exhibit A: Owen with his finger up his nose...on purpose, I might add.  In none of the other pics do they look so natural...I'm not sure what this says about my boys or me as a parent...let's leave that one alone for now, shall we?

Now for a question for all you BSMers: Does anyone have any good Photoshop for newbies books to recommend?  I finally upgraded my computer so I that I could install a better editing program, but now I find that I have NO IDEA what I am doing!  Layers????  Thanks in advance for the advice.

LOL! That is too cute, and yes, very REAL!
I don't have the full Photoshop, but I work with PS-Elements and it's quite similar. I really don't have any books to reccomend, but I can tell you that I remember being totally overwhelmed by the idea of layers and now I love them and it's very intuitive. Just give it some time and have fun playing. :o) I just used the help section and picked the brains of my photography friends!

That is HILAROUS!!

I love PS Elements! I would get that one if I were you. It's easy to pick up as you go. Baby steps. : )

I love it - and those are some AWESOME Christmas pjs!

I have photoshop...I end up googling most of the things that I can't figure out, and so far I have had good luck at finding step by step guides on how to do things. It isn't a very quick process, but the more you do it, the easier it gets. Good luck!

LOL priceless shot! They're totally adorable!

I'm planning on getting PS-Elements myself here very soon...I've heard several folks say Scott Kelby writes a few good PS-Elements and PS books.

Fun stuff, this photography, isn't it?!?

I'm cracking up over here! Perfect. And I love the jammies. I like getting the girls new Christmas jammies too, but I couldn't find any I liked this year.

I say you can post Holiday photos UNTIL the next holiday...

They are adorable in their Christmas jammies...even with the finger up the nose. Sometimes those pictures of them goofing off are the ones we love the most. :)

Books - Scott Kelby Photoshop book is a great book. It is for CS2 (the full photoshop) but it still has some good tips.

I have a brief explanation of layers here:

Love it!!! Just like boys should be!!!

For advice I use both PhotoShop and Lightroom. Lightroom is pretty easy to learn as well.

Hi! I'm new to blogging. I was browsing and found your page. Please stop by my page! I am an associate pastor's wife in need of some new online friends!

GREAT shot!! Love the colours and the composition. As you say, they look so natural. Funny too :-)
Even though my husband is a multimedia designer and graphic artist,I do not have Photoshop or have any idea what to do with 'layers'. Go figure....

Okay, I'm obviously the idiot of your commentors. PSE STILL confuses me and I've taken a class for it! My teacher suggested the kelby books, so those might be good. Have I ever though to GOOGLE my questions??? Nope, but you can guarantee I'll start doing that now!

I LOVE those cutie boys and their cutie pajamas. When I was pregnant with M, I sure thought I was having a boy, so I was all prepared for "boy" stuff. I still have to readjust to having a girl every single day: shoes, princess wands, constant hand washing.

I totally love that finger, like everyone else. I love real photos or real kids--they're just so awesome :)

Okay, LOVE those jammies!
Happy New Year!

I also use PS Elements and I usually find most answers online. (If not through other bloggers so willing to help!)
