Team-Up Thursday: Week Twenty-Three (WATER)
How much do I love summer? I know there are some of you playing with us here at Team-Up Thursday who happen to be in the Southern Hemisphere...sorry about winter. I adore summer, and due to the miserable spring we had here in Oregon, we definitely deserve all the summer we can get.
WATER was a fun theme this week, as I got to try out my new point & shoot. It's not really new; I got it for Mother's Day, but I hadn't had the opportunity to try out the underwater feature until this past week. It was so much fun! It was a bit of trial and error at first, but it was a blast taking the camera in the pool.
Funny story: I'm in the pool with my camera, diving down with it and taking snaps of the kids. At one point I surfaced, and a woman was watching me. The next time I came up, she said, "Is that waterproof?"
I sure hope so, lady. Otherwise I'm leaving this in the trashcan on my way out.
I didn't really say that...but I thought it:).
As to Melody's photo -- what a moment to capture! V perfectly poised with the dragonfly(?) on her finger. My favorite part of the shot, though, the part that makes it so poignant, is the pair of pink googles perched on her head.
Can't wait to see what you have to share with us here and in our flickr pool this week.
P.S. Next week, our theme is CELEBRATE. As if you needed an excuse to throw a party ;).

Team-Up Thursday: Week Twenty-Two (AFTER DARK)
I'm pretty sure our AFTER DARK diptych could also be called "quintessential summer," don't you? Melody's V is just gorgeous in the dusk of the beach. I love being at the beach at sunset, and being on the west coast, we get quite a show over the water. The only problem is, you have to be there really late during the summer months to see the sun actually go down, so we've often gone home for the day before this gorgeous time.
I was tickled when Mel suggested AFTER DARK as our theme because I knew I had the perfect opportunity. We hosted the First Annual Summer Solstice Movie Night in our backyard, and what fun it was! We told friends to BYOC (bring your own chairs) and the movie started up at 9:00pm. A late night for the kids, but what a treat! Bonus points for naming that movie:).
Next week, we'll be doing WATER, so come on back. Remember to visit everyone's blogs and our Flickr group.

Team-Up Thursday: Week Twenty-One (CHAOS)
Whew. This week was the perfect one for our theme because CHAOS has definitely reigned supreme. It's our last week of school -- today is the last day -- and combined with two family birthdays and Father's Day this weekend, it has been hectic.
My contribution to CHAOS comes straight from "Mismatch Day" at school. Couldn't resist photographing the plaids, checks and tie-dye all in the same picture (and on the same body, I might add). I wanted to grab a photo of someone's house that had been TPd Monday morning, but they had already cleaned it up when I got back down there with my camera...at 6:30 a.m.!
Now, if I had simply seen Melody's shot without knowing the theme, I would never have thought CHAOS. But knowing they were stuck in the airport (and on the airplane?) at the end of their vacation, it fits just perfectly.
Can't wait to see what everyone has come up with this week, particularly those of you who joined us in the world of CHAOS. Next week, we're attempting AFTER DARK. Should be a fun one!
Remember to post a comment and visit our flickr group to be inspired by all the great diptychs.

Rockin' the Autoharp
This one's for all my blog readers (Gramma) who didn't get enough of the elementary school music program I posted about a few days ago.
It's Harrison getting ready to raise the roof on the autoharp. And then the xylophone. And finally, the recorder. I'm sensing the Billboard 100 is no match for the grades 4/5 music concert. Don't be hatin' that you weren't there to witness the magic.

Team-Up Thursday: Week Twenty (MIRROR)
You know what they say about the best laid plans? Poor Melody is delayed in Houston, unable to get home to her computer to send me a photo this week, so you are stuck with a diptych of just my shots. Before you feel too sorry for Melody, she has been on vacation, and if her facebook photos are any indication, having a fabulous time. Get home safe, Melody!
And really? She left me with the perfect theme to have a double shot of myself: MIRROR. Two shots, both mine...a mirror of myself perhaps? I'd better quit before I get too confused.
The top shot is the picture I actually took for the theme. I was downtown standing by my car, and I looked up and there was the shot, just staring me in the face. This is one of the few shots during these twenty weeks that I haven't planned at all. Serendipity at its finest.
The bottom shot is one that some of you may remember from last summer. I do love it, and I thought it made a nice little pair for MIRROR this week.
Can't wait to see what you all have in store for us this week, here and in our flickr group.
Next week, Melody and I are exploring CHAOS for our theme, so join us if you dare :).

A Star is Born?
Last Thursday was the end of the year Kindergarten program, a highlight at our elementary school. Seriously, it's the cutest 45 minutes you'll ever spend in a school cafeteria.
Here's Owen, singing his little heart out:
He also yawned a few times. We got those on video, too.
One of the highlights, however, took place before the performance, when I was able to grab a couple of shots of Owen and his good friend, E.
A few years from now, and he'll be so wishing he had been smiling in this photo.

Team-Up Thursday: Week Nineteen (SIGNS)
You might not believe me, but Melody and I did not compare notes before doing this diptych...really. We must have summer on the brain because we both ended up interpreting our theme as "signs of summer." S'mores and swimming: what could be better?
The funny backstory for mine is that this photo was taken in our backyard in drizzling rain. It was the holiday weekend, the cousins were here, and darned if we were going to miss an opportunity to make s'mores. So we didn't.
Show us what you have today, and don't forget our flickr pool.
P.S. Next week, Melody and I are working on MIRROR as our theme.
