R.I.P. my favorite barn. It's been torn down.
I had just taken photos of my lovely neighbor at the barn less than two weeks ago.
Here's hoping they replace the fabulous barn with a cookie-cutter housing development with no backyards :(.

Theme Thursday: Idle
I've been doing lots of free shoots over the past few months to improve both my skills and my confidence. I've photographed toddlers, kids, teens, families, but no babies. I had my first opportunity to work with a newborn today.
Nathan is four weeks old, so not quite as "pliable" as those 7-10 day old babes. He would NOT sleep. No way he was going to miss any of the action. It was quite a challenge, but so fun -- and no pressure because it's just for practice.
This is the only shot of Nathan "idling." He closed his eyes for approximately three seconds and I happened to catch him. He just looks idle. He's fooling you.

BSM: Bridge to Something New
Although the calendar calls January 1st the "new year," I have always felt September to be more of a new beginning. Each year as I mourn the the passing of summer, embark on a new school year, and smell autumn lurking just around the corner, I feel like a new year is beginning. I'm more motivated to do different things, change habits, or start projects at this time of year than I ever am on January first.
In honor of my "new year," I photographed this bridge; I'm calling it the "Bridge to Something New." Who knows what the coming year holds...
