It was the best of times; it was the worst of times. For this week's BSM, I'm offering first, a photo I really love. Then, one that I'm kicking myself over.
I love the close up of O: his eyes are crystal clear and sharp and the lighting is right on. Yes, (pats self on back) I rock photography.
Fast forward two days later. Awesome self forgets to check settings on camera and proceeds to take basketball game pics of H with the exposure bias set two stops down. Yep, I sure rock photography. As you can see from the ugly noise, horrific exposure, and bad color, it does pay to check all your camera settings BEFORE shooting photos that otherwise might have been pretty cool.
I will say, photography is certainly a humbling hobby...

Been there, done that! More time than I can count. That closeup is fantastic.
I think we've all done that. Just be glad it wasn't at a paid gig!
But those shots are great!
Been there, done that as well!
Still a coolie in-the-air shot you captured.

That first shot is just breathtaking!
Bummer about the second one, but I think it happens to everyone. I shot some really great ones of my son all dressed up on the wrong setting and when I loaded them they were all noisy and blurred. AGH!
Oh darn! We've all been guilty of not checking our settings. But who cares with that first shot being so fabulous!
The action in the second shot is pretty cool, even if it's not a "perfect" photo.
And you deserve that pat on the back for the first shot... It's terrific.
I've done that way too many times too! I still like the photo though, check out that air under his feet.

I'm learning too. Great captures though!
Oh that first one is FABULOUS ! The second one is great too ... the shot anyway !! :) I guess you'll remember to check and double check your settings more diligently from now on ! :)
Yeah...been there and did that Saturday when I was taking M's picture at the park. I took AT LEAST 25 shots before I realized my settings were CRAZY. Trying to get a 2 year old to pose longer was no fun.
However, I still think the second image is pretty amazing.
I LOVE the first shot - his eyes are totally gorgeous!
I still like the in the air shot - even if there is a little noise. It happens to the best of us - and for those of us who aren't very good (like me) it happens ALL the time!
I LOVE the first one ( of course). But I totally understand with the second...I've done it too!
i hear ya but it's still a darn cool looking picture!
I love the close up. And I think the second one still came out better then if I would have taken it! LOL!
Seriously, I do a lot of kicking myself around here lately.
They are both wonderful!!
Great capture.

love the close-up. just gorgeous!
Just too much to think about... I think as Moms, we get so caught up in the action of our kids... these little details can get lost.
