Team-Up Thursday: Week Eight

close up diptych

I thought this week would be simple, but CLOSE UP turned out to be a real challenge. I had a lot of ideas, but because I don't have a macro lens, I wasn't getting the results I wanted. I have outtakes of marbles, coins, and lava lamps. Yeah, I was really hoping the lava lamp would turn out. I ended up outside, photographing plants and moss.

Melody's, however, is fantastic! I'm dying to see the whole camera after seeing just a piece of it in her photograph. My favorite part is the little scratch on the front, a testament to its life as a working camera. Melody: I hope you tell us the story of this little gem.

Share your diptychs with us this week by posting a link in comments and uploading to our flickr pool.

And as always, if you've just discovered our little project, grab a partner and join us; we love seeing new faces in the diptych pool. Or drop me a note at monamegs@hotmail.com if you need a partner.

P.S. Can everyone see the whole picture when I post it large like this???

One of my favorite subjects...Close up! Your image looks so alien like yet beautiful in nature at the same time. I love how there are twigs coming out from both sides. And what a wonderful camera Melody caught. Old cameras are so fascinating. Makes you wonder what kind of pictures it caught in its day. Great job Gals!

Christina and I did HOME this week.

Well, you sure did do a great job, macro or not! I feel your pain tho...I soooo want to capture the itty bitty things, and I just can't get my camera to focus. I almost feel like I'm looking at a photo taken by that awesome camera. :o)

Jo and I did HOME this week!

Both of you did a fabulous job this week. Oh the fun Melody must have with that camera. My great grandpa used to let me play with his. How I wish I had that today :) The bokeh in yours is beautiful. I love it!

Fisrt off, the images are visable in the larger format.

Secondly, loveing the close up shots! We don't have that kind of moss-y stuff here, I think. At least I've never seen it! And old cameras are so fascinating. Cool idea to just capture a piece of it. You ladies are so inspiring!

Here is the next installment in our alphabet diptychs.

I would be thrilled to have a macro lens as well, but until I do, I generally use my point and shoot for close up shots. Ironically, it does a better job (set on the macro setting) than my DSLR does in manual. Regardless, I think you ended up with a lovely shot. The moss reminds me of a movie star. It's the center of attention with everyone else kind of fading out around it. ;)

Carrie and I did "Grids/Squares" this week.

Megan - I totally agree with you about wishing for a macro lens. It has been on my wish list for a long time. Great shot of the moss! That camera looks really neat too.

Megan, that was actually the kind of shot I was originally gonna take. I love it. LIke how you focused on the most interesting part of the branch.

We did close up. I guess I'll have to get the story on the camera. I My dad gave it to me, was in his family.

Love you shot, we dont have those here in TX. I soooo agree with you on the macro lens. A lot of time I end up cropping to get in closer. Which I ended up doing on both my green pictures this week. We went green with our theme.

Love old cameras and the story they tell!

I love the moss shot with the bud erupting (or trying) on the branch. Nice detail without a macro! Love the camera - the scratch does add interest - nice DOF in both! Corey and I did T.I.M.E. this week - come by for a visit, love to have you!

There are so many possibilities with the theme close up. You both did a spectacular job. Moss and lichen are so interesting to me. I could look at it for hours. So cool.

Cara and I chose St. Patrick's Day as our theme.

St. Patty's day

When I max my browser open yes, I can see the whole picture. :)

I know what you mean about the macro lens, I get real real close and hope my camera focuses that close to get a shot. Kind of like a pretend macro. ;)

Looking good though. I like the moss close up, looks like a little world hanging on to the branch.

Marty and I did green close up this week.

I can see your whole photo in all of its loveliness! I love the texture of your shot and the bokeh is gorgeous! I've been out taking close-ups of everything since all our flowers are blooming like mad, I kinda wish we had done close-up this week! It was a great theme.

But, we did Grids, this week.

yes, the big pictures look great. I can see them just fine! I like moss too. And the little buds are so pretty and add so much color to the pictures. Melody's camera is really nice, I like the angle/crop and all the dark colors.

We joined in with close up this week, going with an animal/instect brown look. I just happened to be interested in the horse nose this last weekend when I picked my daughter up from the barn.

I enjoyed reading your post. That is funny you mentioned that you found this week's theme to be challenging. I, too thought it was going to be a piece of cake and had difficulty getting a shot I liked. I love the perspective of your shot and the beautiful shallow DOF. Well done!

I always love your collaborations! And this project has really taught me a lot since I'm relatively new to photography. Love it!

Jen and I went with the St. Patty's theme thinking it would be easy...come to find out it was not. We both manage to pull out in the end and here is ours St. Patrick's Day
I can see the whole picture BTW and I love you DOF, I too want to see the whole camera.
