BSM: Post-Vaca Photo Fest

I probably don't need to say this, but we had a great time in Hawaii. Thanks Mom & Dad, for inviting us!

This was the view from our condo:

Some highlights of our trip:

We did the beach, pool, Pearl Harbor, North Shore, Dole Pineapple Plantation, a luau, catamaran, snorkeling, and lots of macadamia nut eating. My favorite are the Kona Coffee covered ones. I ate my last can in the airport (how pathetic is that?). I don't dare bring any home because I'll just eat them till I'm sick. And then eat some more.

We're all trying to get back to reality (and 50 degree weather) today in preparation for school and work tomorrow. It's going to be one tough Monday morning...

Theme Thursday: I Wish...

Owen and I went to the art studio yesterday and had a great time working with clay, painting masterpieces, and using pastels.

One of these things is not like the other...

We are having a beautiful day of sunshine and warmth (we've had sun and no warmth recently), and the kids were looking so cute I asked if I could take a few pictures of them in the garage.

Here's Harrison:

BSM: My Gang

This weekend, we got out of the house by driving out to Camp 18, a great stopover on the way to the coast. It's a restaurant/outdoor logging museum right in the Coast Range. They've collected tons of equipment from the last century or so of the logging industry, and spread it out across the property for the public to enjoy. The scale of some of this stuff is mindboggling. We've been here numerous times, and I love taking pictures of the often unidentifiable parts and detritus. This visit, we didn't stay out too long because it was wet and cold.

This is a fun shot from this trip. You can't appreciate the scale from this picture, but these gears are immense:

But my favorite shot has to be my tough guys, gang signing "I love you" from atop some logging monstrosity:

They do look like hardened criminals, don't they?

Kodak Moment...Not

This picture makes me laugh on so many levels:

1. The fact that Owen practically glows in the dark with the full blast of the flash in his eyes.
2. That he wanted his picture taken with a bunch of wooden penguins.
3. The expression of pain? wonder? flash-freeze? on his face.
4. That the penguins look more natural than he does.

5. A reminder of why I never take pictures at the zoo. Seriously. Owen wanted to bring the camera today.

Laughter Redux

This week, Owen has been complaining of stomach aches. They don't seem to be anything major and certainly aren't "cramping" his style (sorry, i couldn't resist). But when he mentioned another one in the car yesterday, I made a suggestion:

Me: Owen, maybe we need to go see the doctor for your tummyaches. Or better yet, why don't we have daddy check you out tonight?

Owen: No, Daddy's not a professional.

Hmmmm....I bet that would be news to his patients...:)

Isn't laughter always the best medicine?
